The Slow Life Adventures – Week 29 / 2026

A new newsletter-style series about life lately, the things we’ve done and the things we haven’t.

Sometimes, it feels good to look back. Sometimes, old photographs make us laugh. At other times, they stir something deeper, especially when they remind us of people who can no longer be with us.

With this post, we are starting a new series in which we will occasionally look back at the past week or perhaps even the past two. Think of it as a free newsletter that will never clutter your inbox.

The past two months have been rather quiet around here and the algorithm wastes no time in making us ‚pay‘ for that. Sometimes, I get tired of feeling as though I have to “make a comeback,” especially after closing my own streetwear and merchandise label in 2018.

Believe it or not: I don’t wear entirely handmade outfits every day. Would I, if I could? Absolutely. Can I afford to? Nope.

Wear whatever you want. Wear what makes you feel comfortable. And if you can, invest in well-made products, but remember that quality does not always mean choosing the most expensive option. And please, please do not go into debt for a pair of shoes or a watch simply because Influencer XY happens to be wearing it right now.

Last week, we had a wonderful time. We published our Summer Edit ’26 lookbook and visited a location with friends where we will soon be allowed to create a very special shooting. There was delicious cakes, great conversations, cocktails, jazz
and simply a genuinely lovely time.

But the person I have been thinking about most lately is myself.

I am now in my thirties, and I will spare you any midlife-crisis stories. But my body is changing. Trousers and entire suits that I bought six or seven years ago no longer fit. Partly because of their cut which I don’t like anymore, and partly because of the little belly I have acquired.

At some point, you simply have to admit it to yourself: you are no longer twenty. And yes, my father was right: once you turn thirty, the extra weight begins to appear.

It makes perfect sense, of course. The metabolism slows down, and admittedly, I no longer move as much as I used to. Apparently, mowing the lawn is not enough. I have started doing the occasional HIIT workouts at home again, although even that used to feel much easier. Oh well.

Last week, I decided to let go of some of my older clothes, step by step. Thank goodness for Vinted. And honestly, I am looking forward to finding a new navy suit and perhaps a grey and a brown one, too. But money does not simply appear, and this blog certainly does not generate any income.

I thought it might be nice to focus on the ’simpler‘ things again. And yet, here I am, sitting in front of my laptop every evening, looking at fabrics and cuts and wondering whether it might finally be time to visit Rooks & Rocks.

A Day with friends.

But spending that evening with friends reminded me of something far more important: life can, unfortunately, be shorter than we would like and it is definitely too short to squeeze yourself into uncomfortable trousers or shirts.

Eat that slice of pizza. Drink that goddamn Negroni. A good pair of trousers can always be re-tailored.

Enjoy your time. Do not waste it placing yourself above others or judging them simply because they wear cropped trousers or shirts from Charles Tyrwhitt. Help one another. Support one another. It costs nothing to like a post, share it, or leave a kind comment.

And most importantly, if you do not like a post, a video, or an article, remember: it may be free for you, but somebody else invested their time and effort in creating it. Criticism is valuable, but please, always make it constructive. Perhaps then, little by little, the world might become a slightly better place.

So cherish the small moments and enjoy the slow life adventures.

Meow & Ciao
